Conduit up through barn floor. Special connectors are used to secure conduit to boxes and to join lengths of conduit together to form long straight runs or bends. Running the conduit through the wall to an inside box is the most difficult step. The 10 foot lengths of rmc are threaded on both ends and include a coupling on one end. The boxes connectors and conduit form a wire enclosure system called a raceway.
Keep your lines as straight as possible. Installing conduit under or in concrete slabs protects the wires from the weight and corrosion of the cement. You must stub out toilets water lines and electrical conduit as well as main utility lines that enter the building from below the foundation and rise up into the building. Where you have to bend the conduit using a conduit bender make gently curved bends that do not close the diameter of the conduit.
I ran it in conduit and made sure to space the electrical outlets to enable fut. A favorite target of electrical inspectors is the improper use of non metallic cable nm in exposed locations such as basement foundation walls or along the face of studs and joists in unfinished framed spaces. Attach your conduit to the poles of your pole barn using conduit clamps and wood screws. It also allows future expansion of the electrical system by pulling additional wires through the conduit.
Here is a video of how i did my electrical in a 40 x 80 pole barn workshop. Conduit always terminates at some type of electrical box or at fixed equipment that also serves as a box.
