Cut Mat Face Down

Cut mat face down. Typically if you cut 2 3 of your own mats your tools will pay for themselves. That s why they say to cut it shiny or glossy side down on your mat. Whatever mat and machine you are using put your adhesive vinyl paper backing side down onto your mat so the colored vinyl side is facing up see image below. Cut the mat to fit your frame.

In many if not most iron on vinyls the vinyl side is matte and the carrier side is shiny. This cushion is ideal for massage or postsurgical recovery when face down positioning is indicated. Use an x acto knife and a metal ruler to cut through the mat board. The logan mat cutter i use runs about 50 for the guide and cutting handle.

Before you begin cut your mat board to the size of your frame. Select images and size and load the mat into the machine. Use custom material setting. Make sure to put leather right side down on the mat.

Since your material is face down select mirror on the screen when you are getting ready to cut. An exacto knife i would love to try a mat cutter like this one next time to get a beveled edge step 1. To complete this project using cricut easypress 2 press at 385 f 195 c for 40 seconds using light. If your vinyl came on a roll you can cut off a piece to fit on your mat.

I did use my strong grip mat. My frame was 24x30 so i started by cutting a piece of matboard that size. Place the super shiny side of holographic face down on the cutting mat. Place vinyl liner side down onto cricut standardgrip mat.

A cutting mat or a large piece of cardboard a yardstick a metal one would be best but i did okay with a wooden one pencil. Mats are used in framing photographs and artwork to center the focus of the picture and give it a sense of spatial depth.
